Two Weeks, Part 8
April 16 to 30
Another couple of weeks down. I was able to get out a little more on this go around. I took our ‘83 Merc 300D out and around the Olympic Peninsula with a film camera. It remains extremely difficult to make black and white work in old growth forests. Just very noisy visually.

These are Kentmere 200 pushed one stop. The eagle eyed amongst you will notice how nasty the grain looks…my developer (and fixer) were both expired. Oh well.

I came down to Lake Quinalt and decided to take the N Shore Rd and loop around the lake. That road is not entirely paved! So lesson learned. I got all the way to the junction with S Shore Rd before I learned that S Shore Rd was closed. No signage on the north end at all, so that was a fun little detour. At least the wather was nice.

Back in Tacoma and spring has sprung. I’ve decided to use the opportunity to work on some color. Like it’s time for me to start doing color…I really hate playing slider tetris in Capture One but I also feel like I can use B&W as a crutch sometimes. So we’ll see how this goes.

Finally, yesterday I went for a stroll out at Wright Park and the Seymour Conservatory. I was feeling some square format even. (All Nikon Zf + Sony 40mm f2.5.) The spring foliage is nice! I try pretty hard to avoid “ooo pretty flower” type photos. Having something extra - some interesting light - sets them apart.

More or less successful! Hah. I am really liking the square format thing, though.
