Two Weeks, Part 3
Feb 1 to 15
I managed to finally get over to Vienna. I was supposed to go in the fall and the plans fell through. It’s lots of churches and neoclassical buildings and Europe and monarchy. (All of these are with the Nikon Zf + 50mm or the Ricoh GRIIIx.)
Empires were terrible in many ways but almost all of them have been outlived by the things they built. I guess they may have known that; go big or go home?
Separately, I’m just generally bored with my “travel” photos…some of these are interesting compositionally but they’re really just photos of things and not photos about things. I don’t really know how to get from point A to point B.
I was particularly touched by St Rupert’s. All these high altars, domed baroque artworks, gilded and clean…and my boy Rupert over here just doing the good work as a bike rack. Sometimes a church just needs to serve it’s people! Hah.
