Two Weeks, Part 12
June 16 to 30
I went out every day this month on purpose with a camera. Capture One says I shot about 3x my usual amount. Way back in January I wrote that I was bored with Tacoma…I do not feel that way right now. Some combination of just forcing myself out of the house, the sunshine, life circumstances, not sure.
I fully understand I’m not breaking any real ground here photographically, but this month’s work has been meaningful. Just making an effort to learn something new and letting it be bad for a while. It’s been a long time.
Anyway, we had some family in town for a few days and did the tourist thing for a couple of them. We visited Rainier NP and purchased a seven day pass; after they left, I went back up and did a solo hike up at Paradise.
The Skyline Loop has some amazing views of Rainier. I was there mid afternoon into the evening and the mountain fell into shadow pretty quick; next time I am able to get out there I’ll go in the morning. (In the fall. When sunrise isn’t at 5am.) Massive respect to the landscape photographers who hike out to these vistas all the time to get the perfect shot.
The rest of the last two weeks was just doing the thing. It’s nice to have some sunshine.
