It’s July of 2024
Here’s some updates! Because why not?
I’ve been trying all month to assemble a series of blog posts outlining my wife and I walking the 95-ish miles of the West Highland Way in Scotland. It isn’t working.
I think it’s the photos. I didn’t get a single one - not one - that I was happy with. And that’s true for the entire six weeks of being in Scotland and London and Spain and Portugal. They’re adequate as documentation; otherwise, garbage.
Here are a few anyway. The Scottish highlands really are something else.

We backpacked the whole thing and space was pretty limited; I carried the Leica Q2 Reporter with the charger and an extra battery. My phone camera was the backup. This is the third Q2 I’ve owned; I sell it then feel regret and buy again. It’s so good…but it’s not the smallest or most flexible or blah blah blah. I’ve managed to hold on to this one, I guess we’ll see what happens.
We got back from Europe mid-May. After some waffling about I decided to shoot nothing but Ilford FP4+ for a while. It’s been that way for the last two months! And I’m happy with the film, even if it isn’t great for indoor work.

I’ve had periods of shooting black and white in the past. It’s never stuck. For whatever reason - maybe how dismal my photos were in Europe - it has this time. I’ve been really having fun with it. I also shot a few rolls through my Fuji GF670…after shooting 35mm for months it’s been nice getting back into 6x7 quality.

Maybe I’ll buckle down and do a small post about Scotland or the Camino Portuges walk we did after that. But honestly, probably not.
