Color Variations
We went out for a short walk yesterday at Point Defiance and I snapped a couple of photos. One of them had some nice greens so I played slider tetris for a while to see what I could come up with. (All shot on the Leica M10 and Voigtlander 75mm f1.9 Ultron.)

I still don’t have an intuitive feel for color - I don’t know how to get this to where I want it to be in my head. It’s kind of the first and fourth ones combined. Deeper greens but warmer midtones. I don’t mind the second one, which is just “greener shadows” plus moving green hues into teal.
Of all of these, I prefer the black and white. (Also, one of these is SOOC. Surprise?)
Here is another shot with similar edits. The black and white doesn’t work as well…the deer’s head gets lost, it needs the green/red contrast to work.

The engineer in me wants there to be one preset or style I can apply to everything and be done. Maybe that’s why I shoot black and white film. But I suppose the answer to “what works best” is “it depends”. Just like engineering.
Kind of but not really related: I just ordered two 100ft rolls of Kentmere 200. FP4+ is up to $160 a box and now that we’re in the PNW the faster speed might be better. I hear Kentmere pushes really well, so 400 or 800 is feasible. Gonna stick with HC-110 and do some experimenting.
