A Smattering
We’ve been full swing into the holidays. Here’s some photos!
Spearfish, SD
My wife and I made a three day trip up to Spearfish, South Dakota in the days before Thanksgiving. Spearfish was bitterly cold. I took the Leica MP; all shots were with the Voigtlander 28mm f2 Ultron or the Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4.

I want to do more long exposure. The above shot was of a waterfall in Spearfish Canyon; it was relatively dark and I was shooting Ilford FP4 at ISO 100. I just set the camera on a railing to stabilize it and shot at a 1-2 second shutter speed. Turned out nice.

After Spearfish we met up with family in Estes Park. Also cold. Most of the photos are of family (aka small children), but we did do some hiking and touristy stuff.

(I’m just realizing that some of these scans aren’t cropped correctly. Need to start previewing with light and dark bagrounds.)

I haven’t really shot any film since the week of Thanksgiving. Not even for any real reason, either. It was just the M10-R’s turn! I’ve been going out to Garden of the Gods pretty regularly. We had a snowstorm blow throgh at one point and I happened to be there when it started, which made for some moody shots.

And finally, a weekend wedding trip to Seattle. I’ve been wanting to try a 75mm, so I picked up a Voigtlander Ultron and shot the entire weekend with it. I’ve really clicked with this focal length…it’s basically a close 50mm to me and I naturally stay back from things so it works out.

We have even more travel coming up in the next two weeks; I’m thinking about shaking it up again and bringing my Sony. The last time I really seriously used it out and about was in Spain and Portugal back in the spring. It’s not a fun camera to use…but I feel like I can always get good shots on it.
Or maybe I’ll just stick with this M10-R + 75mm combo…it’s weird!
